Made with love in Los Angeles.

I'm a maker. Whether it's in the kitchen, the wood workshop or at the sewing machine. I'm always creating things. It's my passion.

After being a crafter my whole life, I participated in my first craft fair in 2011. After that fair, I opened my Etsy shop. When I was choosing a name, I had to pick something that had meaning to me and had an available domain (we're a family of geeks and knew I'd eventually want a website!). We chose the name Mariposa Crafts for a few reasons: 1) it's the spanish word for butterfly and my daughters are both nature lovers and 2) we used to live on Mariposa Road! So, my Etsy shop (MariposaCraft) and now my website (www.mariposacrafts.com).

The shop started with just a few items and a friend's crochet items. My product list grew as I rediscovered my love sewing. I made a wide variety of products, but focused on accessories like lunch totes, makeup bags, etc. Until late 2015. We’re a board game family. Soon after we purchased and began playing “Sheriff of Nottingham” we broke a bag. I decided to make a replacement bag. We liked it so much, I ordered fabric to replace the rest. My husband mentioned it to another gaming guy at work who wanted a set. He told someone, and another and another. Until 2017 when I only had time to make these bags. All my other products kind of fell away.

Fast forward to today. I’ve done a lot to streamline my process and now make my bag sets in large batches, assembly line style. Which frees up my time to create things again. So I’m starting with just a few products. If you like something but want other fabric, please contact me and we can design something custom just for you.

Hope you enjoy the shop!
